In May of this year, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Jonathan and Nina’s wedding at Woodland Wilderness in Sussex. Shooting a forest wedding has been on my bucket list for a while and so when I got this booking, I was pretty excited. If I were to describe Jonathan and Nina’s wedding in a nutshell – it would be a hug in a mug, the cuppa soup of weddings. I love shooting weddings, but when I get to work with a couple who I really connect with on a personal level, it makes my job all the more sweet. From my very first conversation, I knew that we were the perfect match and the day did not disappoint. The weather was beautiful and the company better. If you are looking for an outdoor, rustic venue – I can highly recommend Woodland Wilderness. It provides a huge amount of space for roaming, but equally has quite an intimate feel.
Nina and Jonathan exchanged vows, surrounded (literally) by their most loved ones in a very beautiful and emotional ceremony, which was followed by the planting of a brand new tree to mark the occasion. As the guests munched on yummy canopes, Jonathan, Nina and I wandered through the forest, chatting and giggling and shooting some portraits in the sunshine. Everyone then sat for a delicious and informal self service meal and amongst the hubbub, there would often be the sound of a bell which invited the bride and groom to kiss. As the meal went on, the bell was rung more and more regularly, but i’m pretty sure that they didn’t mind! After dinner had been served, the speeches began, stories were told, tears streamed and the laughter was hearty. Everyone knows that the best dessert is ice cream and so after the speeches were over, the couple had organised for an ice cream van to arrive. It was a beautiful ending to a beautiful day.
Jonathan and Nina…thank you <3
