The Hospitium has all the grandeur of a listed building, with its huge windows and stone interior but it is also super cool with some incredible light. The Hospitium was originally used to house guests that were visiting the abbey and is situated on beautiful grounds with ruins and gardens that are great for photography. The venue is also a short drive through York to York Abbey, which is also a great spot for photos. The Hospitium is versatile regardless of the weather. If the weather is great, then there is a lot of outdoor spaces for you and your guests to enjoy the fresh air. If the weather is bad, then there is ample space inside for both mingling and photography.
The venue is set over two floors. Downstairs is beautiful stone and has a church like feeling to it. Upstairs is a large hall, where you and your guests can sit to eat. It has beautiful beams and is light and airy. The staff team are fabulous. Everything ran on time and they were very friendly. There is no accommodation on site and so you’ll need to book elsewhere for your morning preparations and your evenings rest but in York, there are lots of hotels really close by. I can also recommend Hotel Du Vin. If you are looking for a stately venue with a relaxed feel in the Yorkshire area, then I would definitely consider this place.
