Adam and Gemma invited me along to photograph their beautiful winter wedding at Swancar Farm, Nottinghamshire. From the moment that I met Adam and Gemma, I knew that we would get on like a house on fire. They are kind, warm and pretty hilarious. After their engagement shoot in the Derbyshire countryside, I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding and it did not disappoint. The wedding celebrations started at their beautiful venue in the morning, as the girls got ready in the lovely bridal suite. Adam and Gemma had chosen to see each other before their ceremony to calm their nervous and have a special moment together. The ceremony was so joyful and they both beamed the whole way through. The cermeony was followed by a drinks reception and then a lovely meal in a room full of huge windows and gorgeous wooden beams. The venue had been decorated with a christmassy feel which added a really lovely backdrop to the wedding. Adam is a graphic designer and had designed the gorgeous stationary for the wedding himself, adding additional personal touches. Each guest was also given a personalised christmas decoration to hang on their tree for the festive period. After a 3 course meal, the guests listened to some great speeches and then Adam, Gemma and I ventured outside for some night time portraits. This is one of the things that I love about winter weddings, because it really challenges my creativity and use of light. We used the lovely grounds and some well placed lanterns as a backdrop for the images that you will see below. Once these were done, we ventured back inside to warm up. After the cake was cut, the guests danced the night away.
