In April, Matt, Lora, Bella and I headed up to Gretna Green for their top secret wedding. It was easily one of the highlights of my career so far. I absolutely adore weddings but the absence of table plans, chair covers and running orders kept all of the attention on their love for each other and that’s the most important thing about making this commitment. We all piled into Matt’s lovely vintage mini and headed up the motorway from the Lake District. Bella and I were instant best friends and she spent most of the journey on my lap. The couple had chosen to get married at The Famous Blacksmiths Shop which is a really cute, historical little registry office in Gretna Green.
The couple walked into the ceremony together, along with a bagpiper (much to Bella’s annoyance) and exchanged vows witnessed by two random tourists that had been asked to be a part of this special moment. After the ceremony was complete, we piled back into the mini and headed to lots of gorgeous spots around Gretna and then the Lake District for couple shots to celebrate. It was pretty cold but we laughed a lot, ate a lovely picnic by the lake at Another Place in Ullswater, hopped in and out of boats, prayed that the mini would make it up the hills and cuddled Bella whenever possible.
Getting married If you are looking for a wedding photographer who loves shooting for relaxed couples and who might make you laugh so hard that you snort, then I would love to hear from you.
