As a lover of old fashioned, black and white films, I was itching to shoot a wedding at Electric Cinema, Birmingham and so I was thrilled when James and Marianne booked me for their day. When we met, it was immediately obvious that we were going to get on like a house on fire. James and Marianne own a wonderful vintage shop (minimum mouse) and have a real love for the old or unusual. Marianne’s wedding dress was a beautiful, vintage find from JJ’s House and was 50’s style with lots of lace. The maids were in 3 differently styled and coloured dresses but each fitting in with the 50’s theme. The flowers were bright and beautiful and suited the mismatched style of the wedding perfectly.
The Electric Cinema ceremony was emotional and joyful. Both seemed entirely at home on the stage as though they were staring in their own hollywood flick. After they were wed, they boarded a double decker bus, along with all of their guests, to drive through Birmingham to the next venue.
The reception was held at Highbury Hall, which is a beautiful stately home, full of dark wood and beautiful light. James and Marianne continued their vintage/mismatched theme with brightly coloured flowers, glass jars, colourful doilies and vintage china. Highbury Hall has lovely high ceilings, with an ornate balcony and lots of period features. It’s a perfect, budget friendly option for your wedding reception.
I had such a wonderful time with this lovely couple.
Thanks so much James and Marianne! x
